WOODLAWN CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Life at WCC
Amy has been a member of Woodlawn since 1989, along with her husband Mike and children Emily, Madison, and Mitchell.
She graduated from Johnson University in 1981 with a degree in Bible and Church Music, and was the part-time worship leader for 21 years before assuming the full-time Administrative Assistant position.
Dwayne, his wife Tia, and their four children have been part of the Woodlawn family since June 2006. He is a graduate of Johnson University and Emmanuel Christian Seminary. He served previously as Youth Minister with West Village Christian Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee from 1993 - 1997 and the Capital City Christian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina from 1997 - 2006.
Dwayne's passions are God's family, his family, and Kentucky Wildcat Basketball.
Dean Davis and his wife Judy have been in ministry since 1956. Following 10 years of ministry in local churches in the U.S., they served 24 years in Zambia Africa planting churches and training national church leaders.
Since returning to the States in 1990, Dean served for 13 years as Director of Church and Alumni Relations at Johnson University and then as Assistant Director of Development for Central India Christian Mission. He has made numerous oversees mission trips, surveying new areas for mission work in nine different countries and conducting leadership seminars among existing churches.
In January of 2008, Dean began serving as Associate Minister of Senior Adults at Woodlawn.
Dean and Judy have three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Amber Hockman grew up at Woodlawn when her parents, Ron and Martha Wheeler, placed their membership in 1977. After graduating from Johnson University in 2000 with her Master in Holistic Education, Amber worked 6 years in the Knox County School System with the Talented and Gifted Program.
In 2006, she was able to leave her job in education after her husband, Chris, began a different job in the wonderful world of accounting. She was thankful to stay at home with their three children, Grace, Faith, and Garrett, where she eventually began homeschooling them. During this time, Amber also babysat several different children in her home.
In 2014, Amber became the Director for Children's Ministries at Woodlawn. She still has a lifelong dream of being Wonder Woman one day, but for now she is thankful for the adventure God is daily leading her and her family on!
Matt enjoys competitive sports such as basketball and ultimate frisbee as well as other activities like hiking and sight-seeing, exploring, occasionally doing something that provokes an adrenaline rush, and simply hanging out. Matt and Abby are both from Indiana.
