Charles and his wife, Mary, came to Woodlawn in June of 2002. He is a graduate of the University of Akron; Kentucky Christian University; Cincinnati Christian University; and has done doctoral work at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Woodlawn is his third ministry, having served previously for 18 years with the Owensville Church of Christ in southwest Ohio and 7 years with the Goshen Christian Church in northern Indiana.
Charles believes the Bible to be God's message to the world, revealing his plan to redeem and renew all of his creation through faith in his son Jesus Christ. Helping people understand and apply scripture to their daily lives brings Charles his greatest joy.
"Following Jesus is true life. He is worth losing everything else."
Charles and Mary have 4 adult children and a growing number of beautiful grandchildren: Michael, wife Kimberly, and children Maria and Isabelle; Sarah and husband Rich Kern; Matthew, wife Lindsey, and children Leah, Cheryl, and Eleanor.
In August of 2010, their oldest daughter, Cheryl, sacrificed her life representing Jesus to the people of Afghanistan. Her faith and witness continue to show God's love to oppressed and suffering people around the world. Her life inspires the Beckett family and faith community here at Woodlawn to press on in the footsteps of Jesus.

In 2006, she was able to leave her job in education after her husband, Chris, began a different job in the wonderful world of accounting. She was thankful to stay at home with their three children, Grace, Faith, and Garrett, where she eventually began homeschooling them. During this time, Amber also babysat several different children in her home.
In 2014, Amber became the Director for Children's Ministries at Woodlawn. She still has a lifelong dream of being Wonder Woman one day, but for now she is thankful for the adventure God is daily leading her and her family on!
